Overdue Re-Do...

What a great day today at The Lone Star Antique Mall. An overdue booth re-do, a great lunch in the Tea Room, and meeting some of our very loyal customers for the first time...it does not get much better than that. For Valentine's Day, we brought in some bright red and mixed it with the pink. Today we took out the red and added some black. I think the black and pink looks great. It always takes a lot longer than it should to do a booth re-do cause you have to stop and talk to ALL the other dealers. Lone Star is blessed with some wonderful dealers. Plus it is fun to get to spend the day with Mom!

I am Back!

Hey All....I am back in the blogging world. Yahoo! Thanks for the notes while I was MIA! Nothing spectacular to report, just extremely busy at work and having to travel A LOT! Spent last week in San Diego...wow, if I did not love Texas so much, I could move there! We have also somewhat neglected our booths...as when I am in town it always seems like the weather is bad. We decided to bring in some new stuff later this week and I got worried that I did not have much to take. Started moving stuff in the garage and realized we actually have quite a bit. Looks like the pink booth will be getting the redo as a majority of the inventory is pink, black or white. Took some pictures in the driveway to share with you guys. We will probably be at the Mall on Thursday if anyone wants to stop in a say hello. I also just got a call extending an invitation to join my friends at the Homestead Antique Fair in Hico, Texas on May 7 & 8th. Dorothy from the Shabby Y and Felicia from Bountiful did the show last year and have raved every since. They talked me into trying it but I told them they are going to have to help me as I have never done a show before. What better mentors than these two! I have to start planning ASAP as it is only 2 months away and I have a 17x12 booth to fill...YIKES! Could use some advice from all you pros. Help me out!

Last of the Lake House Pictures....

These are the last pictures from the lake house. These are pictures from the bedrooms (pink ones are Mom's room of course) and bathrooms. Can't wait for the weather to get better and take friends to the lake! Still have some odd and ends to do....but it is ready for fun.

The Lake House Kitchen....

Will I never learn??? It is so hard to appreciate the after pictures when you don't have a before to compare! Well, here is the after and I will just have to tell you about the before. The cabinets were a very ugly reddish brown wood set in front of the same ugly reddish brown panelling. We kept the counter tops, but you can imagine the beige on ugly reddish wood. It took several coats of Killz and paint to finally get them looking decent. Our friend Kenny went in with his sandpaper and shabbied and scraped up all the edges to make them look a little rustic. Mom painted the knobs black and it looks a GAZILLION times better. We had the old flooring replaced with a sturdy wood looking laminate. Our original vision was for a very retro red 50's kitchen. However while we were at Warrenton in the Fall, we found these wonderful blue booth seats and had to have them. So now the kitchen is a mixture of red and blue 50's. We bought a great old white light fixture for over the table, but don't have it up yet. The bay windows you see looks out onto the lake. A great view during the day, however I took these pictures at night. Oh Well....we are getting there slowly but surely.

Promised Lake House Pictures...The Den

Okay, I know that I have been promising pictures of the new Lake House on Lake Texoma....and here are a few. Mom and Dad bought this Lake house a few months ago and we have been working on it off and on for a while now. The folks that owned it before really just used it for lake activities and did not invest much in cosmetic details. We replaced the kitchen appliances first, then had a painting party where several of our friends came for the weekend and we painted and painted and painted. The paneling was dark (and throughout) and the kitchen cabinets sucked up the paint as fast as we could put it on. We used gallons and gallons of KILLZ and still had to put 2 and 3 coats of paint on everything. We thought we could paint most of it in a weekend, but had to invite some of our very loyal friends back twice to get it done. You can imagine the entire house with dark paneling and dark (spotted carpet). Phase 2 was new flooring. Carpet everywhere except the kitchen and bathrooms....and we did a laminate hard wood design on these floors. Mom and I were very excited to FINALLY get to the decorations. We robbed and pretty much depleted our finds for the antique mall....but they look great in the lake house. These posted pictures are from the den. It was getting dark when I took these, so the lighting was not very good. We still have to do some finishing touches....replace all the light and electrical sockets (they were an ugly black and we are going to do them all in white). We also want to put in some new light fixtures and shades. More pictures from the kitchen and bedrooms to come. I can't wait for the weather to improve and get to spend some quality time up there. It is going to be GREAT!

Assorted Treasures at Lone Star Antique Mall...

I took my camera to The Lone Star Antique Mall today and took pictures of some really cool stuff I found. Quite a variety of treasures. I love the roller skates with red pom poms! My aunt used to take us skating and she proudly wore a pair just like that...she was SO COOL! "Now Couples Skate". I also love the old restroom doors. Wouldn't that be cool as doors to someones bathroom at home????

I thought I would have pictures of our trip to Canton (Flea Market) this week, but the rain and cold kept us away! I keep promising pictures from the lake house and am going up there tomorrow. I will post some pictures of our rather eclectic lake house next week. I hope everyone has a great weekend and try to stay warm.
