Don't You Just LOVE Spring????

Don't you just LOVE the Spring? I guess we have to endure the winter to make us appreciate the spring...but I vote for spring all year long (I will live with the sneezing and watery eyes the allergies bring). Every year it seems like some blooming plant is exceptional...this year it seems the roses are incredible. Everywhere I go, I see rose bushes in full colorful bloom. I have in the past trimmed the rose bush by my pool way back, but did not this year and look at all the roses! No more trimming back. I have started to get in the spring spirit and found a few items for the yard. Went to a wonderful outdoor ceramic place in Keller, Texas and found some wonderful statues. Also bought a great iron table and chairs from my friend Lisa...just gotta recover the seat cushions. We may end up taking it to the lake house...just not sure yet. Enjoy your spring...I know I am!

Getting Ready for The Homestead Show in Hico...

Oh My! Would you just look at the mess I have waiting to go to the Homestead Show in Hico June 7th and 8th! My garage is overflowing and I still have some stuff to pick up tomorrow that I just bought (thanks Lisa). I AM OUT OF CONTROL! In true style, some of what we bought has ended up in my Mother's house and mine....just can't help it. Gonna mark out my booth dimensions this weekend and do a dry run on where everything will go. My eyes are always bigger than my space. I think I have the walls figured out...probably will change my mind 50 times before then. Oh well...please see something you like and come to Hico and buy it!

Lady in Red...

Okay all of my creamy, shabby friends....forgive me, but we brought in some red to the whites, creams and browns in our shabby booth! I know....I know. I guess we committed a cardinal sin (get it...cardinal...red...oh, well). But we bought this incredible 50's red prom dress at Warrenton and just had to get it in one of the booths. Don't delete me from Creamy, Shabby blog land....please! I love the splash of red, now we will just wait and see if everyone else does. My blogging buddy Sue over at Collectin Texas Gal sent me a picture of a red prom dress that she has been looking for....I hope she takes a peak and finds it is close!

There Go My Millions!!!

I found this great old buffet in pretty bad condition for a deal! I just knew after all my painting and shabbying that I would make MILLIONS...okay, maybe not millions...but a good profit. So I hauled it home and set it in my garage for a weekend project. My parents moved into a new house a few months back and Mom started talking about needing a piece of furniture in the middle of her closet to store all her delicates. The second my garage door opener started and her eyes found the old, beat up buffet...I knew I had lost my millions! 3 coats of paint and lots of shabbying later, it has found a new life and sits proudly in the middle of her closet. Oh well, her loving this old buffet and being excited to have it is worth millions! I love you Mom.

The Spring Homestead Show in Hico, Texas...

Well, my garage is full of WONDERFUL stuff for our very first show in Hico, Texas. Usually my eyes are bigger than my space, so I am sure I will take way toooooo much stuff with me. I hope you can come on May 7th or 8th...the list of dealers is impressive. It is going to be so much fun. I am still trying to figure out how to create walls...I know it will come to me! Look for the shabby headboard that says Ruby Grace's and say hello.

The Longhorn Inn...

Here is the BEAUTIFUL place we stay in Round Top each show. It is called the Longhorn Inn and is so wonderful. All the Junker Gang (or as we call ourselves, the Clampetts) are in the first 2 pictures, Debbie, Kenny, Mom (Mary), Teresa and me in the first picture and Tracy in the 2nd. The Longhorn Inn has 2 guest houses each with 4 rooms and a common television/seating area (with refrigerators, microwaves, sinks, etc). The views are great from the rooms. They have longhorns on the property and you can feed them in the mornings. As much as I love the junkin' in Warrenton, I love coming home to these incredible surroundings. We play Chicken Foot or Spades in the common area and have a great time in the evenings. We LOVE the Longhorn Inn.

Round Top Trip...

Whew...what a GREAT time we had in Warrenton this weekend. We must have hit the expensive parts on Thursday and I got worried that it was not going to be a productive trip...then we hit the jackpot on Friday! Saturday morning was spent going back to pick up all the big stuff and strategizing how we were going to get all the stuff into the back of my SUV and my friend's trailer. Bets Friday night were that I was going to have to drive back on Sunday and pick up what would not fit. Kenny and Tracy (pictured above) meticulously stacked, packed and wedged everything and we got it all in one load. I really wish I had taken a before picture with all the stuff scattered all over the porch and yard. It looks pretty compact in the pictures, but it was A LOT of stuff. While we were driving behind the trailer on the way home, we commented that drivers could not see the beauty of all we had bought and it just looked like a lot of junk! We sang the Beverly Hillbillies song as I am sure that is what we looked like...just needed Granny on the roof of my car in her rocking chair. The weather was nice, the food good and the vendors so friendly. Got to spend time with Theresa (Garden Antqs Vintage) and Mindy (Primitiques n' Poetry)...such wonderful ladies! We got some GREAT stuff for both the mall, our show in Hico, the lake house and my house...life is good. I always say that the happiest place on earth is not Disneyland, but Warrenton.
